Supersized Zillion-Dollar Lobster Frittata
The Supersized Zillion-Dollar Lobster Frittata can be found at Norma’s, in New York, and it costs $2,000. But what makes this omelet so special?
Well, the way-too-extravagant frittata is made with six fresh eggs, cream, an entire lobster, lobster sauce, chives, and 10 ounces of Sevruga caviar. All those fancy ingredients are placed over a bed of Yukon gold potatoes.
This frittata used to cost $1,000 in 2016 when it was featured in an episode of “Secret Lives of the Super Rich” on CNBC, but they decided to double the price since the ingredients used are so expensive on their own.
Norma’s executive chef, Emile Castillo, and Le Parker Meridien’s president, Steven Pipes, were trying to find a way to include caviar in an omelet, and that’s how the Supersized Zillion-Dollar Lobster Frittata came to life in 2004.
As Lisa Tharp, director of guest communications for Le Parker Meridien, shared with CNBC Make It, “Since it would be costly, they decided to have some fun with it.”
