It’s not necessarily safer
There is a preconceived idea that rural or small towns are safer than big cities, but studies have shown that the opposite is valid. While people say they never used to lock their homes or cars in suburban, rural, or regional neighborhoods, times are changing and crimes are taking place in all geographical regions. It’s vital to prioritize your safety when you move to a small town, even if you feel secure with the locals.
i’ve lived in the rio grande valley, texas. its hot as blazes, but its very cheap to live here. san benito is 35,000 people and that’s big enough for me. of course there very little opportunity here, but i’m retired and can’t afford to live anywhere else. so i guess this is where i’m going to die. every place has its pluses and minuses……….there is no utopia……….bummer!
