“My highs were really high and my lows would take me out for weeks at a time.” Selena Gomez opened up about her mental health issues and said that proper medication helped her a lot and “completely changed” her life. “I got on the right medication and my life has been completely changed.”
The actress and singer was always open about her experience with depression and anxiety, but she recently admitted that she suffers from bipolar disorder.
“I think it’s a battle I’m gonna have to face for the rest of my life, and I’m okay with that because I know that I’m choosing myself over anything else,” she continued. “I’m starting my year off with that thought. I want to make sure I’m healthy. If that’s good, everything else will fall into place.”
She talked about how the right medication can help one in need, and also added that she sees her therapist five days a week. Serena was diagnosed with lupus and she also had a kidney transplant due to complications from the auto-immune disease.
“I found out I do suffer from mental health issues, and, honestly, that was such a relief,” she told the Wall Street Journal. “I got on the right medication, and my life has been completely changed.”
