7. Newt Gingrich
Everybody knows Newt Gingrich! The major leader of the Republican victory in 1994 was named “Man of the Year” for his very well played role in ending the four-decade Democratic majority in the House. Besides his political career, he is also known for being an author and a history teacher at the University of West Georgia. What a turn of events!
Later, after leaving Congress in 1990, he founded a number of for-profit businesses, and the main peak of his career was, after 21 years, in 2011, when he chose to run for the presidency right after he left his job as a political analyst for Fox News.
Did you know that “Newtie” (as his mother used to call him) is a huge animal lover? He used to take care of a lot of animals as a child. Furthermore, he managed to scare his grandmother when he brought a jar of snakes into the house. Funny! According to another story about his childhood, one day he painted some stripes on a jacket to resemble a zebra. What a cool kid! Apparently, his love for animals is still strong because in the early 90’s he donated a large amount of money to the Atlanta Zoo so they could purchase two Komodo dragons.
