3. Death
We all fear death in some capacity, as we do not want to lose someone close to us or to leave loved ones behind. Yet, thanatophobia, the fear of death, is the top phobia in five states, Alabama, Arizona, Connecticut, Nebraska, and North Carolina. With how uncertain everything is around the topic of death, there’s no surprise that it also reigns in the top four common phobias across the whole country.
2. Blood
Have you ever seen someone go white as a sheet and either fainted or had to run away to the bathroom cause they got sick, just because they saw a little bit of blood? If not, call yourself lucky cause the fear of blood, or hemophobia, is very common and ruined a few dozen career paths for people. Truthfully, no one is very brave in front of a lot of blood, even if just for the shock factor when you look at it, and because it is such a sensitive topic it became the top phobia in five states.
1. Being alone
Surprisingly, this is the biggest fear of all of them. You would think of other ones that seem scarier will reign supreme among states, but it is actually monophobia, the fear of being alone that terrifies more people than you might have thought.
Being chosen as the thing that most people are scared of in eight states, we can reach the conclusion that solitude or having no support system is what terrifies most of us even if we do not want to admit it.
