8. “Primavera”
Sandro Botticelli’s “Primavera” is a painting made in celebration of spring, seen as the season of fertility. What you didn’t know is that this painting was not always called “Primavera” and it had another name which was a change after 50 years after it was painted.
The main character of this amazing mural is Venus, a goddess that embodies love and beauty. Venus is also the protector of marriage and the plants around here are called myrtle and symbolize sexual desire within marriage and the miracle of child-bearing.
The three females around her represent the female qualities of chastity, love, and beauty. The abundance of fruit that is found in the trees is seen as a gift of nature and fertility brought by Venus.
