The set it by Milo Baughman, a pioneer of modern design who began collaborating with North Carolina-based furnituremaker Thayer Coggin in the 1950s. (Baughman’s work has even been on display at the Whitney Museum of American Art.) Antiques expert Helaine Fendelman notes that Baughman’s work led to midcentury-modern classics that are still in demand today.
