Georgia

Georgia might be one of the highest contenders on the map when it comes to being invaded by Russian troops as, much like with Ukraine, it would not be the first time in modern history that it would happen. In 2008, there was a war between these two countries, as the separatist group in Georgia, localized in South Ossetia, started a war while being backed up by Moscow military troops.

The fight lasted for 5 days with hundreds of casualties. In the aftermath, Russia recognized South Ossetia and another region, Abkhazia (also known as a separatist region), as independent states and stationed many troops there. The West-leaning government denounced their involvement and called the two regions occupied by the Russians.

Due to this, despite Georgia denouncing the invasion of Ukraine, they have been reluctant to have a firm position in the war due to fearing a similar situation in their country. But their supposed neutral stance brought thousands of Georgians out on night rallies in support of the Ukrainian state and people. Recently, Georgia officially applied for EU membership, accelerating the application to the union as fears of a Russian invasion keep escalating.
