All the way back in 1987, Biden had one of his first attempts at the presidential seat. And maybe, he would have had a fair shot if not for some of the comments he made. Three decades ago, Biden had a disagreement with one of his voters, that landed him in hot waters because he insulted the intelligence of the person.
During a meeting, a high school teacher asked him about what law school he attended, a sore spot for Joe Biden, and the then-presidential candidate blew up at him, saying “I probably have a much higher IQ than you do.” Not only was this in very poor taste but combined with the reveal from a few months later that Biden had plagiarized a lot of his essays in his college days was a true media bomb. No wonder the man abandoned his bid after.
This just proves that he has a track record with gaffes, much like the racial comment he made in 2020, and that the man truly had a temper. Hopefully, he reigned it in, after all, it took him another 33 years to get in the good graces of voters. Yikes…
