The World Brain Eating Competition

Yep, you read that one right! There is such a thing as a brain eating competition, despite it sounding straight out of a zombie movie! And it doesn’t involve human brains (as expected). This happened every year during the Zombie Pub Crawl, which is just people partying in Minneapolis in costume, until the pandemic rolled around. And people competed to see who could eat the most brain tacos in 8 minutes. With the uncanny texture of pork brain, we are pretty sure this experience is a bit unpleasant!

Joey Chestnut set the World Record for this type of food in 2013 when he ate 54 of them in the allotted time!

Deep-Fried Asparagus Eating Competition

We were always told as children to finish the greens on our plates before we left the table, which for some proved a bit of a challenge. Whether it be broccoli, Brussels sprouts, or asparagus, they are sometimes an acquired taste. Not for some of us, though, as people love asparagus so much that there is actually an eating competition that is centered all-around this vegetable!

Not only that, but it is held at the San Joaquin Asparagus Festival, which is all about celebrating asparagus. Maybe the fact that it is deep-fried may make it taste better, but when you have to eat as much as you can in 10 minutes, the fried aspect may hold you back a little bit due to the excessive grease.

This did not stop Joey Chestnut, a veteran winner on our list, from eating 12 lbs 8.75 oz in 10 minutes back in 2012. Let’s be grateful our moms just wanted us to eat what was on our plates…
