In North Carolina, the total number of cases this Friday was 41,000, and the state had its highest single-day count with 1,768 new cases. According to The News & Observer, the state has now had more than 1,000 daily numbers for five of the last eight days. It is unknown to what extent the rise in confirmed cases is due to attempts to re-open the state economy as opposed to a rise in coronavirus testing efforts.
