10. You shouldn’t drink too much alcohol
This applies to every other holiday, not just Thanksgiving. Enjoy a glass of wine or two, but getting drunk at the Thanksgiving dinner is probably not the best idea unless you want to make someone feel uncomfortable.
Know your limits and know when it’s the time to stop. Also, make sure to call an Uber because driving under the influence is a crime.
11. You shouldn’t talk about sensitive topics (religion, politics)
There are certain topics, such as religion and politics that are better to be avoided on Thanksgiving. While you might feel very comfortable talking about everything with your family, some people might not share your opinions and it could lead to a heated argument.
Therefore, in order to avoid ruining the Thanksgiving dinner better avoid talking about these two topics. Even if your intentions were pure and you didn’t think what you said applies to someone in the room, it could apply to someone they care about.
12. You shouldn’t try a dish for the first time
You might feel inspired to try a new recipe you’ve seen on Pinterest, but maybe it’s not such a good idea considering that you have no idea how it tastes. Especially if you’re hosting the Thanksgiving dinner, trying a new dish for the first time can turn out to be a huge mistake. Better stick to the recipes you already know and love.
