Let’s start with a phobia that whoever decided to name it, was either:
A. A massive fan of irony
B. The ultimate prankster
C. Quite frankly just a bit of a jerk
D. Most likely all of the above
Why? Well, because Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia happens to be the fear of long words. It is a very real condition but like all other phobias, it’s not one you are born with. It most like develops in a person because of an unpleasant episode in their life (most likely from childhood), when they have been mocked, embarrassed or humiliated when trying to read or pronounce long words.
