While some US states are preparing the latter phases of their re-opening plans, others are taking a step backwards while coronavirus cases continue to rise. Hard-hit states, including Florida and Texas, have also taken preventive steps to curb the spread of coronavirus, including closing bars and setting restrictions on indoor dining, while others have recently implemented mandatory face mask steps to minimize new COVID infections.

According to experts, other states with infection numbers that tip into dangerous territory should follow suit — and possibly return to lockdown in the near future. The COVID Risk Level Map, a partnership that includes data from the Harvard Global Health Institute, the Harvard Edmond J. Safra Center for Ethics, the Rockefeller Foundation, CovidActNow, Covid-Local, and CIDRAP, among others, listed 14 states that are currently categorized as COVID risk level orange, which indicates rapid spread.

For these states, a combination of stay-at-home orders increased testing, and contact tracing programs are suggested— which may mean that a new lockdown is not so far away. Do you wonder if your area is becoming a hub for coronavirus? Read on to find out which states could return to lockdown in the near future.
