Herd immunity used to be our goal even before the vaccines began rolling out, as many health officials highlighted the importance of reaching it. This highly-used concept refers to a phase of the pandemic in which a large percentage of the population is protected from the virus until it will no longer spread and can be eliminated on a large scale.
