As Fauci shared in his interview with The New York Times, “People were getting confused and thinking you’re never going to get the infections down until you reach this mystical level of herd immunity, whatever that number is.”
That’s why Fauci urges people to stop focusing on herd immunity in its classic sense. Instead, our new goal is for more and more people to become immunized, in order for the infection rate to go down.
