The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)’s website recommends consulting with your doctor before taking any over-the-counter (OTC) medications, including ibuprofen, acetaminophen, aspirin, or antihistamines, for making your vaccine side-effects less aggressive.
It’s also important to call your doctor as soon as you discover that something is not ok, or your side effects continue to last even after one week after vaccination. If the redness in your arm only gets worse as time passes, or if your side effects become worse after a few days, make sure to call your doctor as soon as possible.
