While we all know about cats and dogs allergic reactions and any other furry pets in general, very few people know that reptiles allergies are a thing, as well. According to Richard Lavi, MD, of the Allergy Asthma & Sinus Relief Center in Twinsburg, Ohio, allergies to reptiles tend to happen due to the little proteins present in their skin, which our immune system identifies as bad, causing allergy symptoms.

There’s even a case study conducted by a University in Spain, presenting a 42-year-old woman that was allergic to her pet iguana, and experienced symptoms such as runny nose, watery and itchy eyes, and asthma.
