COVID-19 has left more than 57.3 million people without jobs over the past six months. So if you’re part of the U.S. population that has lost their job because of the novel coronavirus, you’re probably looking to get a little extra cash.
More than half of the states will start paying out the enhanced benefit in the coming weeks: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, and Washington.
South Dakota is the only state that has declined the subsidy as of Aug. 25, but you can expect both lists to evolve over the next few weeks. However, how much you will get depends very much on your location.
Until now, Kentucky and Montana confirmed that will give an additional $100 besides the $300 from the federal government and the standard state unemployment payment.
