This archipelago off the coast of Senegal is a fast-growing African package destination that has plentiful winter sun and unspoilt beaches, several of which are used as nesting sites by sea turtles between June and October. Thanks to the crystal-clear waters and wonderful coral, it also offers pristine snorkelling and diving, and the chance to go whale watching. Shoals of humpbacks come to the islands between March and May to feed and give birth. Head out on a half-day boat trip to observe these amazingly graceful mammals in their natural habitat.
