This beauty of the aquatic land is the lucky official mascot of the Ugly Animal Preservation Society and it was voted as 2013’s ugliest animal worldwide. Judging by his looks, those awards are definitely worth it, right? But why does it look..so…ugly?!

Before we laugh our assess off, we should know that it’s not his fault. The Blobfish lives literally at the bottom of the ocean. Now, 4000 feet of water is a lot of pressure on his shoulders – or, in fact, fins. That’s where its look comes from as well, as it’s crawling there hoping for some small fish to come around and be served as dinner.

Still, he’s a real badass. The Blobfish lives up to 130 years old and its origins date back to..well, the oldest fish that ever existed on Earth.
