Academic
Despite being a mother of three, Jill never stopped working and mixed raising her family with work and academic life. She worked at a psychiatric hospital, where she completed two master’s degrees, only for her to go back to school in 2006 and earn her doctorate in education in 2007. She finished her doctorate at the University of Delaware.
Proud mother and writer
In 2012, she wrote and published a children’s book titled “Don’t forget, God bless our troops”. This was because she is a proud military mother, as her stepson Beau had been deployed in Iraq. Unfortunately, Beau died of brain cancer in 2013.
Active life
A little known thing about Jill Biden is that she is a marathon runner. She fell in love with running after she participated in the Komen Race for the Cure in the 1990s, a race for breast cancer awareness and research funding. Nowadays it is said her exercise regimen included a five days a week five mile run and weight training, as she strives to keep active.
Unexpected prankster
Despite being a doctor in education and a devoted mother, Jill Biden is a prankster and loves humor. It is known that the first lady left a plastic rat on the podiums Joe was speaking, only for it to appear on his pillow later that night. She admitted to liking to make the atmosphere lighter with some humor and jokes when things get too serious. We are sure her husband appreciates the distraction from time to time.
