Should you be concerned about it?
Since it has just been recently discovered, there are many unknown aspects about BA.2. However, what is certain is the fact that the vaccines are efficient against this variant as well, and if you’ve gotten infected with Omicron, then you shouldn’t be worried.
Do vaccines work against it?
The vaccines are supposedly even more efficient against the new strain than they were with BA.1.
Can you get infected with the new variant if you had Omicron already?
Scientists are still not 100% sure, but many researchers are saying that it’s not likely to get infected again with the new strain if you were with BA.1, especially if you have already gotten the vaccine shots.
Bear in mind that there are no guarantees regarding this, but the chances of getting infected again are pretty low in such a short period of time.
Will this new strain cause another wave?
We hope not. In Africa, where Omicron was discovered, the wave is almost over already. There are a lot of cases rising each day, but Omicron is less deadly than Delta, and the chances of getting hospitalized are even smaller.
