This year, in the context of a global pandemic, Thanksgiving will look a whole lot different than what we’re used to. Besides not being able to host large gatherings like previous years, some bix-box retailers have decided not to open their stores this year for Thanksgiving.
Target is one of the stores that won’t be open on Thanksgiving 2020, according to a recent blog post on the company’s website. While in previous years Target used to open stores at p.m. with a lot of huge, Black Friday deals, this year things will look very different.
“This year more than ever, a joyful holiday will be inseparable from a safe one, and we’re continuing to adjust our plans to deliver ease, value, and the joy of the season in a way that only Target can,” the company wrote.
However, Target will still offer a lot of door-busting deals to kickoff Black Friday shopping, even though they haven’t confirmed store hours for Thanksgiving week. Therefore, you can still find a lot of hot deals for Black Friday, and the good news is that Target will ‘stretch out their savings’ all year long.
Target wrote in their post that deal hunting and holiday shopping means crowded stores and a large number of customers, and this year we need to minimize crowds as much as possible. They also mentioned that you can find the lowest prices of the year on their official website, so you can still purchase the gifts you want, without having to go to the store. Target prioritizes safety this year.
Many other major retailers are choosing to close their stores this year for Thanksgiving. Walmart and Sam’s Club have also decided to keep their stores closed on Thanksgiving Day, stating that after such a trying year like 2020, people need a little time off and spend some quality time at home to celebrate this beautiful holiday.
“Our best ideas come from our associates, and this year we have decided to close our stores on Thanksgiving Day – November 26. We know it’s been a trying year, and you’ve stepped up. We want you to enjoy the day at home with your loved ones,” stated Walmart CEO John Furner in a press release.
