
9. Disposable Diapers
In 1951, Marion Donovan invented a waterproof diaper cover because she wanted to keep soiled cloth diapers from leaking. A few years later, she created the first-ever waterproof disposable diapers.
One simple question guided her work: “What do I think will help a lot of people and most certainly will help me?”
Today, 95 percent of American babies wear these disposable diapers, even though it was a time when Marion Donavan tried to find a manufacturer for her idea and the men who controlled the industry brushed her off.
