The new study conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has discovered that a high body mass index (BMI) was very problematic for younger COVID patients, however, older patients are also at very high risk.

According to the CDC’s study, “Overweight and obesity were risk factors for invasive mechanical ventilation, and obesity was a risk factor for hospitalization and death, particularly among adults aged <65 years.”

“Consistent with previous studies, the dose-response relationship between risk for hospitalization or death and higher BMI was particularly pronounced among patients aged <65 years.”
