Drew Barrymore became famous at a very early age, so she turned to drugs and alcohol very soon, due to her new life with very little adult supervision. She was just nine years old when she started going to nightclubs with her mother, and that was also the time when she started using drugs for the first time.
Just imagine a nine-year-old using drugs, drinking, and hanging out with adults. At just thirteen years old, Drew Barrymore attended rehab for the first time, she was taken there by her mother. She spent one year and a half in rehab, a time in which she had a little visitation from her mother.
At just fourteen years old, Drew Barrymore became emancipated from her parents, as her father was an abusive alcoholic and her mother had very little understanding little of parental responsibility.
But even today, she believes the year spent in rehab was very important for her sobriety. She learned to be a humble and a more respecting person, things she never learned from her family.
Drew Barrymore knew fame when she was very little, but she also knew how it is to be broke because she was left with nothing when she turned 14, so she had to clean toilets to make a living, but look at her now.
She also wrote her entire experience with drugs at an early age in her memoir Little Girl Lost. Additionally, Barrymore also managed to reconcile with her mother and now she has a family on her own and a beautiful career.
