Matthew Perry had begun her journey with alcohol long before his role in Friends. In fact, during the time he played Chandler Bing, he used to consume a lot of alcohol. Moreover, he also became addicted to Vicodin after a skiing accident in 1997.
He decided to seek treatment in 1997, but he shocked the whole world when he came back 20 pounds lighter, looking even worse than before. He attended rehab in 2001 for his addiction to Vicodin, methadone, amphetamines, and alcohol.
But he relapsed again and entered rehab once again in 2011. He also mentioned that due to substance abuse, he doesn’t remember much of the time between season three and six of Friends.
However, he wanted to become clean, and he did. He also becomes the celebrity spokesperson for the National Association of Drug Court Professionals and even went to Capitol Hill to convince the members of Congress to support funding for drug courts.
