In order to slow the spread of the virus, certain types of gathering and some places that are considered high-risk need to close down immediately, Bjarke Frost Nielsen, a researcher at the Niels Bohr Institute at the University of Copenhagen told The Washington Post.

As long as the high-risk places are closed, other places such as schools and businesses can operate normally, he added. Nielsen has been studying COVID since the beginning of the pandemic using mathematical modeling, and he added that COVID is heterogeneous, meaning that it usually spreads in ‘burst- like outbreaks’ in certain high-risk places, bars being the most common example.
