According to some experts, bar owners should be paid by the government to close their businesses, in an attempt to slow the spread of the virus and support those affected the most by a coronavirus.

As Elisabeth Rosenthal, editor in chief of Kaiser Health News, told The New York Times, while it might sound like a radical method, it definitely had the scientific sense and the political precedent as well. The same way farmers are paid to not cultivate some fields to protect the environment, bar owners should be paid for the sake of public health, she added.
