You Should Never Buy These 18 Items From Walmart

1. Furniture

If you want to have high-quality furniture that will last you for years and years, better not buy it from Walmart. Buying furniture is definitely an investment, and if you choose cheaper options, you’ll end up with low-quality items that you’ll have to replace every year. In the end, you’ll pay even more on replacing it, than you would if choosing a pricier one.

“While I think Walmart is a reliable resource for inexpensive pieces, like a side table for a dorm room or home office, I wouldn’t recommend buying an important staple piece, like a bed, dresser, or dining room table there. The quality just won’t be up to snuff,” according to Trae Bodge, smart shopping expert at TrueTrae.

“My suggestion would be to consider those larger, staple items as more of an investment. If you invest upfront, you can rest assured that the item will last for a long time, rather than having to be re-purchased in a year’s time.”

2. Large appliances

Better stick to buying large appliances from places that are specialized in them, if you want to purchase a qualitative, long-lasting one.

“Walmart doesn’t have a large selection of large appliances, and even if they did, you’d be more likely to find a better price at stores like Best Buy, Home Depot, or Lowe’s,” says Julie Ramhold with DealNews. “Not only do those stores regularly offer up to 35 percent off a variety of large appliances—but they tend to also have decent delivery services, so you don’t have to haul that new fridge home by yourself.”

3. Clothing

Walmart offers low-quality clothing items, so even if it seems like a bargain at first, you’ll end up spending more money annually, as they wear out faster and you’ll have to replace them in no time.

“Avoid the clothing, unless it’s school uniforms, which are pretty standard in quality,” says Gina Zakaria, the blogger behind the budget blog Saving Whiz. “Most of their materials are not good quality and don’t last for more than a season. After one or two washes, the clothing loses shape and looks worn out.”

4. Organic Produce

Walmart is not the place for buying organic produce. “Many Walmart stores have groceries and the prices can be very good,” says Bodge. “However, they are not known for their pricing on organic foods.”

Bodge recommends Aldi or Trader Joe’s for better prices on organic produce. If you’re an Amazon Prime member, you need to visit Whole Foods to take advantage of their exclusive discounts on certain items.
