11. Charlotte Lawrence
The 19-year-old singer confirmed on Instagram that she tested positive for the novel coronavirus on March 17.
“Hey guys. A couple days ago, my doctor informed me that I too have COVID-19. A lot of us will,” Lawrence wrote on social media. “I am going to be completely fine. But many who get it won’t be if too many people get sick too quickly,” she continued, “This is me pleading for you all to protect those less able to survive the virus.”
Lawrence urged people to take care of themselves and encouraged her fans to stay at home.
“So this is not me asking for prayers, for love, for sweet messages. This is me pleading for you all to protect those less able to survive this virus. Stay inside. Please. Whether you feel sick or not, stay inside,” she wrote, adding, “Think about your parents. Think about your grandparents. I love so many people who might have a very rough time getting through this. Think about someone else getting your loved ones sick because they didn’t listen, because they thought they knew better. Because they were selfish.”
12. Daniel Dae Kim
Daniel Dae Kim is another celebrity that tested positive for the novel coronavirus on March 18. The actor made a 10-minute Instagram video where he shared with his followers that he’s been self-isolating in his home in Hawaii.
“For the past several weeks I was in New York shooting a role on a TV series where — ironically — I play a doctor who gets recruited to a hospital to help patients during a flu pandemic,” he said.
Firstly, he was asymptomatic, but after a while, he reported feeling tightness in his chest, fever and body aches before deciding to get tested. He quarantined at home, but stayed on bed rest for several days.
“For all those out there — especially teenagers and millennials — who think this is not serious, please know that it is,” Kim warned, adding, “And if you treat this without care, you are potentially endangering the lives of millions of people, including your loved ones.”
He recovered after a few days, but still decided to remain in isolation. “I am lucky enough to be in the 80% of diagnosed cases that have not required hospitalization,” he said, adding, “As of now, I have no symptoms other than a little residual congestion.”
After recovering, “Lost” actor decided to help others who are fighting this virus.
“This disease is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced,” said Kim. “Now that I’ve recovered, my plasma may contain antibodies that will help people who are fighting COVID-19 right now. I’m glad I’m able to help those who are still fighting their own battles.”
