4. Pope John Paul II
The king of falsely being declared dead, Pope John Paul II, was prematurely axed off three times before his actual death in 2005. The most recent example happened two days before when FOX believed the terminally ill Pope has already died.
After an unsuccessful assassination attempt in 1981, a report from CNN talked about the Pope in the past tense, leading people to believe that the assassination has been a success.
CNN hasn’t learned their lessons, because in 2002 a great number of their obituaries have been prematurely leaked to their website, including one of His Holiness, claiming he had died in 2001. So, it’s quite funny how the Pope can die four times.
