This is a case of mistaken identity that happened in 2017 when the cult leader and mass murdered Charles Manson, the person from whom Marilyn Manson (real name Brian Warner) takes his stage name died in prison.
Manson was imprisoned for life in 1971 it is a possibility that fans mistaken the name and were too busy mourning him online to notice that it wasn’t Marilyn the one who died.
