You can still get the COVID vaccine even if you have certain food allergies.

A lot of people who have food allergies are not sure whether it’s ok or not to vaccinate against COVID. During the live Q&A, Wen was asked to give advice to those who do not know what they should do regarding vaccination, taking into consideration multiple medications and food allergies.

According to Wen, you shouldn’t let these small inconveniences stopping you from taking the vaccine. She also said that she suffers from medication and food allergies herself, as do millions of people in the United States.

Usually, those who have medication and food allergies can still take the vaccine, but they’re being observed 30 minutes after the shot. However, if you know you’re allergic to certain ingredients of the vaccine, it would be better to not get it and consult your doctor just to be sure.
