5. Rhode Island

At just over 800 deaths as of June 10, Rhode Island doesn’t appear to be a possible candidate for this list, but the New York Times estimates a per capita rate of 76 deaths per 100,000 residents, higher than other states at considerably higher death tolls.
And the number is increasing within Providence County— where more than half of the population resides— with a per capita rate of 100 deaths per 100,000 people.
