The McRib is made with kangaroo meat
False. This sandwich has incited all sorts of speculation over time, and it’s no surprise, considering that it is something of a perplexing concept. It is a barbecue pork sandwich that was supposed to evoke ribs, while it’s shaped like a rack of ribs, but in reality, it contains no bones and it’s not actually rib meat.
So it’s no wonder people started coming up with all kinds of ideas about what it was made of. The most “appreciated” idea was that the meat was from kangaroos, well, in fact, it’s pork.
And to be honest, as wacky fast-food tall tales go, “kangaroo meat” is pretty tame since people do eat kangaroo meat in some parts of the world. The truth about the ingredients might actually be worse, depending on how you look at it.
There’s a secret menu
True. Secret menus are very popular due to the Internet, as people share and put together all sorts of menu items and hacks that can be used in some restaurants.
McDonald’s is no exception, and there are some, lesser-known “off-the-menu” items that you’ve probably seen circulating on the Internet. One is the “Poor Man’s Big Mac,” basically a
McDouble with Big Mac sauce and some extra condiments and toppings. Another is the “Chicken McGriddle,” which is a crispy chicken patty eaten with syrup-soaked McGriddle cakes.
However, the secret menu is “secret” and therefore it is still unofficial, so “not everything will be available at every McDonald’s location, and your server may or may not know the lingo,” wrote our sister site Taste of Home.
So if you’re planning on ordering off the secret menu, come equipped with an explanation of what the item consists of.
