Coca-Cola tastes different
True. The Coca-Cola recipe found in McDonalds isn’t different, but there is a difference in how McDonalds prepares it. They have a process of chilling the soda
“The water and Coca-Cola® syrup are pre-chilled before entering our fountain dispensers with the ratio of syrup set to allow for ice to melt,” the FAQ page says.
“This “ratio” ensures that the melting ice is just the right amount so that your soda is as flavorful as possible. And the fact that the liquid is chilled before it even enters the soda fountains keeps it as cold as possible, preserving both maximum refreshment and maximum carbonation.”
McDonald’s lies about its fries being vegetarian-friendly
False. McDonalds never lied about the animal products they used to make their fries, but they never said they weren’t vegetarian-friendly, either. Firstly, no, their fries aren’t vegetarian or vegan. In 1990, McDonald’s stopped cooking its fries in beef fat and chose vegetable oil instead, that’s when the confusion started. This made people think that fries were vegetarian, when, in fact, this vegetable oil still contains “essence of beef” to flavor the fries.
After many separate lawsuits from vegetarians—two of whom were Hindu and abstained from eating beef products for religious reasons—McDonald’s issued an apology.
“We regret we did not provide these customers with complete information, and we sincerely apologize for any hardship that these miscommunications have caused,” said a 2002 statement on the company’s site.
However, McDonald’s agreed to pay $10 million to some Hindu and other groups. Even if it may not have been an outright lie, but it was still a blunder that joined the ranks of these fast-food scandals that rocked the industry.
