4. You shouldn’t bring a surprise guest

If you’ve ever hosted a Thanksgiving dinner at your house, you probably understand that it takes a lot of planning to get things right. Starting from the cooking, the seating arrangements and decorations, and the appropriate amount of pie and other dishes for the guests.

So now you can understand why bringing a surprise guest might not be the best idea. If you want to bring someone, just ask ahead of time so the host will have plenty of time to prepare.

5. You should never ever complain about the food

If someone invited to spend Thanksgiving at their house, don’t be that guest that complains about the food, because it is very disrespectful towards the host. While it is very rare that you would like everything that’s on the Thanksgiving table, that doesn’t mean you should just start complaining about the food.

If you don’t like the stuffing, be polite and thank the host for their hospitality, and of course, choose something else to eat. Always remember that someone tried their best to prepare the food and make everything look perfect, so there’s no need to act ungrateful.

Also, try not to say “the food needs more salt” or “this is too spicy” because you will sound spoiled.

6. You shouldn’t spend a lot of time on the phone

In order to avoid people spending too much time on their phones, you could think about coming up with a rule where all the guests put their phones in a basket and forget about it for the whole Thanksgiving day.

Enjoy this holiday by communicating with your loved ones and be thankful for your blessings. Also, not having to hide behind a screen all day will help you rediscover the power of a good conversation.
