Children trials are taken into consideration by other pharmaceutical companies, as well.
Pfizer was the first company to release data on how children and adolescents react to the COVID-19 vaccine, but other pharmaceutical companies will start to do the same. Moderna and Johnson & Johnson are also working on expanding vaccination to younger populations.
Moderna has begun clinical trials in March, testing its vaccine on more than 6,750 participants, children ranging from six months to 11 years old.
According to The New York Times, Johnson & Johnson also announced in February that its also planning on starting clinical trials for newborns and infants very soon. The company also wants to do extra research for pregnant women and people with a weakened immune system.
