Mask Mandates Will Soon Be Relaxed, According to Fauci

Loosening indoor mask mandates is now on everyone’s minds.

Many other experts besides Anthony Fauci have recently made a strong push towards the relaxation of indoor mask mandates.

Scott Gottlieb, MD, former commissioner of the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) from 2017 to 2019, explained on May 6 on CNBC that now is the best time for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to take the first step into relaxing indoor mask mandates, as the number of daily infections is going down, and the vaccination rates are going up.

As Scott Gottlieb shared with Shepard Smith, CNBC’s host, now it would be the perfect time to start lifting some of the restrictions, as vigorously as we put them in place.

“The only way to earn public credibility is to demonstrate that you’re willing to relax these provisions when a situation improves. We need to preserve the credibility of public health officials to perhaps reimplement some of these provisions as we get into next winter if we do start seeing outbreaks again,” he added.

Additionally, Gottlieb’s suggestion is also endorsed by Leana Wen, MD, a public health professor at George Washington University and Baltimore’s former health commissioner, who wrote an article in the Washington Post where she urged the White House to trust the efficacy of the COVID-19 vaccines by allowing people to not wearing masks indoor.

Wen believes that over-correction has a price, and all the health measures do not appear science-based anymore, but rather useless. She also mentioned that all the safety measures that are being put in place are making people questioning the vaccine’s efficacy.
