The Fregoli Delusion
You know those science-fiction movies with supernatural beings who appear to be the hero’s brother, right? Well, for those suffering from Fregoli delusion, the scenario is as real as possible. Usually after a head trauma or hormones deregulation, the patient believes that random people impersonate their loved ones.
For example, you see an old lady on the street and suddenly you just know that she’s your mother… except she’s not. That old lady is, in fact, impersonating your real mother because you think they look just like twins. So, basically, the life of a Fregoli delusion patient is a never ending 007 movie. Exciting, right?
People suffering from this mental disorder have major issues with visual memory. Not only are they unable to remember the faces of their loved ones, but their brain replaces their memories with any person they see at a specific time.
SYMPTOMS: Hallucinations, slight epileptic seizures, memory issues (particularly when it comes to visual memory). Oh, and if you think that your friend who’s not your friend impersonates your friend, well, you should visit a doctor.
