60 Years! The Duke and Duchess of Kent

The Duke of Kent, Prince Edward, had met the one who would become the now Duchess of Kent, Katharine Worsley, all the way back, while the Prince was serving in the military. In 1961 they tied the knot and are still going strong now, over 60 years later! With their impressive 60 year long marriage, the two are one of the longest-married couples in the British monarchy!

Together they have three children, all of which are aged 59, 57, and 51, respectively!

62 Years! Former Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko

The Japanese emperor and his wife have been one long-lasting and history-breaking pair! During a tennis match in 1957, the then-Crown Prince met his future wife! However, Michiko Shoda was a commoner and a recent graduate of literature.

This didn’t deter the prince though, and it was soon announced that the two were a “love match”. Their wedding, which took place on April 10, 1959, broke the 2,000-year-old tradition of only marrying noble blood.

Their wedding was also the first one to be broadcast to the world, which set the precedent for the following royal weddings. The Emperor abdicated in favor of his son in 2019, making him the first ever Japanese Emperor to do so in 200 years! The two are still together, and they have three children together.
