Ira Einhorn, also known as the Unicorn Killer, murdered his girlfriend in 1977 after she came over to collect her things during a tumultuous breakup. He stuffed her in a trunk and left her there for eighteen months.
After neighbors complained about a smell, the authorities found her, but Einhorn fled to Europe and remained there for over twenty years. He now serves a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
