2. John Lewis
While he was a student, Lewis became an activist in the civil rights movement. He was a brave person because he tried to support racial equality and voting rights. However, this had some rough consequences because he was arrested and jailed many times during some non-violent activities in Nashville, Tennessee. John was first elected in 1986 to the U.S. House of Representatives and served 17 terms.
Many times after being arrested, he declared that he “felt free and liberated.” What a brave man he was! May his soul rest in peace!
