The riots will surely lead to “chains of transmission,” according to the former FDA commissioner.
When Scott Gottlieb, MD, former commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), appeared on CBS’s Face The Nation on January 10, he was asked by the host, Margaret Brennan, whether he believes if the Capitol even is a ‘potentially superspreader event’ or not.
He seemed very sure when he replied ‘of course’, adding that he expects to see chains of transmissions that aren’t really related to those who participated in the event or were part of the crowd. A gathering of such scale can cause a lot of damage in this day and age, considering that the new COVID-19 strain can spread even faster than the original one, as it is more contagious.
