1. Superman didn’t always fly.

The original Superman comic book the titular hero could leap across large buildings in a single bound. But then he had to return down to Earth because he couldn’t fly. It wasn’t until the 1940s when animators wanted to create a new animated series illustrating him. They decided that bending his knees repeatedly would be too hard, so it was decided that Superman should take off into the air. for a new animated series that illustrating him.

 

2. The first computer was invented in the 1940s.

Supercomputers are everywhere these days –and they don’t even need much space at all. Have you posted an Xbox One up in your living room? That would be a supercomputer. A laptop-tablet in your handbag? That is also a supercomputer. But when supercomputers first appeared they needed a lot, a lot more space.

Just look at the first computer in the world: The Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer (ENIAC). Originally designed at the School of Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania, in 1946, ENIAC weighed 60,000 pounds and took up a space larger than most studio apartments (1,500 square feet).

Immediately after construction, ENIAC was sent to the military, where it was used with disturbing accuracy to calculate ballistic trajectories (translation: launching missiles). Today, computer experts at Penn credit ENIAC with heralding in the “dawn of the information age.”
