7. Bees sometimes sting other bees.
Bees are infamous for their stings, but human beings aren’t the only ones feeling this neck pain (or arm, or leg…). Some “guard bees” will remain by the entrance to protect their hives from outsiders and sniff the bees that come in, says Marianne Peso from Macquarie University’s biology department.
If there’s another rogue bee trying to steal some nectar from another hive, the guard bee will bite and even sting the intruder.
8. Kids ask 300 questions a day.
Research from online retailer Littlewoods.com in the UK in 2013 observed little kids and documented the questions they asked the adults around them. The kids seemed to look to their mothers for answers, and the study found these moms might end up answering an average of almost 300 questions a day, or one question every two and a half minutes.
The moms reported that “Why is water wet?” and “What are shadows made of?” included the hardest questions they had been asked.
