It’s definitely more contagious.

As recent research has shown, the new COVID-19 strain firstly discovered in the U.K. is 70 percent more contagious than the original form of the virus, which makes is spread faster among individuals.

According to Peter Horby, MBBS, chair of the U.K.’s New and Emerging Respiratory Virus Threats Advisory Group (NERVTAG), “We now have high confidence that this variant does have a transmission advantage over other virus variants that are currently in the U.K.”

But it’s not as dangerous.

Recent research has also shown that even though the COVID-19 mutation spreads 70 percent more quickly than the original one, it’s not as dangerous and doesn’t appear to have an increased mortality rate, which is good news for us all.

According to Fauci, the U.K. report has shown that the new strain is indeed more contagious and the transmissibility is more efficient than the original form of the virus, however, that doesn’t mean the mutation is more dangerous than the previous one. While it’s more able to attach to the receptors on the cell, it hasn’t been proven that it increases virulence (the ability to kill or make you very sick).

Here’s What You Need To Do To Stop COVID-19, According To Fauci.
