While there’s a lot of controversy around the vaccine and whether it will be effective against the new COVID strain, Fauci also mentioned that the vaccines are likely to be effective against the mutation as well, so there’s no need to worry. He also added that the B.1.1.7 variant has proven to be compatible with the vaccines.

In order to stay safe from the new COVID-19 strain, we need to follow the same healthy measures as we did before.
It’s true that the mutation is a little bit different compared to the original form of the virus, but that doesn’t mean we have to change all the healthy measures we followed before, as they’re still effective in stopping the spread of the virus. Therefore, wearing a mask, social distancing, and hand washing are still important measures that need to be followed by everybody now more than ever, considering the new strain is more contagious.
As Anthony Fauci mentioned on Dec. 29 in an interview, the safety measures we talked about since the beginning of the pandemic need to be followed with the COVID mutation as well.
According to Fauci, social distancing, avoiding crowded, poorly ventilated places, wearing a mask, spending time outdoors rather than indoors, and washing your hands frequently are measures that will help prevent the spread of the virus.
